Investigation Concludes on Use of Government Vehicle in MP Kamolsak Shooting

Narathiwat: The results are out today: the investigation into the use of a government vehicle in the shooting of MP Kamolsak of the Prachachart Party is complete. The Narathiwat governor revealed that the results of the investigation into the use of a government vehicle in the shooting of MP Kamolsak of the Prachachart Party will be released today. The report will be submitted to the commander of the 4th Army Region, while the commander of the Police Region 9 is preparing to hold a press conference this afternoon.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Boonchuey Homyamyen, Governor of Narathiwat Province, explained that the investigation has been thoroughly conducted by a fact-finding committee. The investigation was chaired by Mr. Wichan Chaiyasetthasampan, Deputy Governor of Narathiwat Province (Security Affairs), with the Deputy Director of ISOC (Military Affairs) and the Provincial Permanent Secretary as members. The results of the investigation will be reported to the Commander of the 4th Army Region, ensuring that proper procedures are followed.

Mr. Boonchuey emphasized that the use of government vehicles is strictly monitored by the NACC and the State Audit Office, and that even using these vehicles for personal matters is illegal. The governor stressed the importance of closely monitoring the use of personnel, finances, equipment, and vehicles to prevent misuse. He also mentioned that a press conference by the Commander of Provincial Police Region 9 is scheduled for 1:30 PM today at the Forward Operating Center in Yala Province.

Authorities from the investigation team have reportedly gathered evidence and identified an organized group responsible for Mr. Kamolsak's murder. Arrest warrants have been issued for five individuals, including Mr. Somporn Langdech, a former Marine; his son Mr. Yosakorn Langdech; Mr. Alawi Awae; Mr. Thanaphat Wattanapinyo, who remains at large; and Mr. Sunthorn Promphakdee, a garage owner.

Concerning the ISOC vehicle, which is overseen by Captain Montri Toprasert, a committee is being formed to investigate its use. It was revealed that Captain Viroj Ketumanee, a former Marine, borrowed the vehicle and handed it to Mr. Alawi for the attack. Two of the passengers, including Captain Viroj and another suspect, acted as gunmen. The role of Mr. Yosakorn, a passenger, remains unclear.

Additionally, Mr. Jamlong, a mechanic, has been summoned for questioning, although no arrest warrant has been issued for him yet. The investigation is expanding to include other potential parties involved, with the expectation that more details will emerge during the press conference this afternoon.
