Chiang mai: IRPC has donated 6,000 sheets of polypropylene (PP) plastic to the Prosthetic Foundation to aid in the production of prosthetic limbs for amputees both within Thailand and abroad. Mr. Therdkiat Prommoon, Chief Executive Officer and President of IRPC Public Company Limited, presented these innovative plastic sheets during a ceremony at the foundation's location in Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai. The donation was received by Professor Clinical Dr. Niwes Nantajit, Secretary-General of the Prosthetic Foundation, along with other foundation executives.
According to Thai News Agency, IRPC has been working in collaboration with the Prosthetic Foundation on a prosthetic limb project since 2011. The initiative aims to ensure the foundation has sufficient high-quality materials to produce prosthetic limbs. The company, in partnership with Eastern Poly Pack Co., Ltd. (EPP), provides IRPC with specially developed Polimaxx PP Copolymer plastic pellets. These pellets, which are translucent, smooth, flexible, and strong, are molded into sheets measuring 41 x 41 cm with a 12 mm thickness. These sheets are then used by the Prosthetic Foundation to create prosthetic sockets for amputees of all races and religions, free of charge, fulfilling the royal aspirations of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
Since the beginning of their collaboration in 2011, IRPC has provided the Prosthetic Foundation with over 120 tons of PP plastic pellets, facilitating the production of more than 47,000 prosthetic limbs. This ongoing support has significantly enhanced the quality of life for amputees, enabling them to pursue careers and achieve sustainable self-reliance.
