ISOC Refutes Rumors of Information Operations Allegations

Bangkok: The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) has clarified that its communications are conducted within the framework of the National Security Act, aiming to build understanding and warn of threats. ISOC firmly refuted rumors suggesting that it has a policy of conducting information operations (IO) aimed at attacking individuals or groups.

According to Thai News Agency, on May 30, 2026, Lt. Gen. Thammanoon Maisonthi, spokesperson for ISOC, addressed allegations circulating on social media that accused the central ISOC of conducting IOs. He emphasized that ISOC has no such policy and that its communication efforts are aligned with the duties set forth by the Internal Security Act of 2008. Specifically, Section 7 (4) of the Act mandates ISOC to promote public awareness regarding their duty to protect national core institutions and encourage public participation in addressing national security issues.

ISOC's operations are framed as strategic communication and public relations initiatives by the government. The aim is to disseminate information, facts, and knowledge to foster a correct understanding of the security situation. This approach is intended to inform the public about potential threats to the nation, communities, and society, while also encouraging all sectors to collaborate in monitoring and resolving these challenges.

The evolving nature of security threats, including information threats, transnational crime, drug trafficking, violence, and misinformation, underscores the necessity for heightened awareness and public participation. ISOC highlights the importance of collaborative efforts among various sectors to tackle these complex issues effectively.

ISOC assures that its communications are guided by principles of accuracy, transparency, and respect for individual rights and freedoms as dictated by law. The organization clearly states that there is no intent to distort information or incite animosity against any individual, group, or organization.

ISOC extends its gratitude to all sectors for their vigilance and feedback regarding its operations. The agency remains committed to performing its duties transparently and with integrity, prioritizing the nation's and its citizens' interests. ISOC will continue to focus on building public knowledge, understanding, and participation in efforts to enhance national security and foster a strong, safe, and secure Thai society for the long term.
