Bangkok: Japan is extending its support to ASEAN in addressing the challenge of transnational crime. Japan will assist Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos in tackling issues related to transnational crime, notably targeting scammer gangs.
According to Thai News Agency, Japan's public broadcaster NHK reported today that a signing ceremony was held in Bangkok to formalize this aid agreement, which is valued at over 500 million yen (approximately 100 million baht). The initiative aims to enhance the investigative capabilities of government agencies through collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Japanese Ambassador to Thailand, Masato Otaka, emphasized the importance of cooperation in effectively responding to the rapidly evolving criminal networks. This partnership is seen as a vital step in confronting the threats posed by these adaptable criminal organizations.
