Japan Enhances Security at Chinese Embassy Following Intrusion

Tokyo: Japan has tightened security at the Chinese embassy in Tokyo after intruders broke into the embassy grounds yesterday.

According to Thai News Agency, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the individual climbed over the wall and entered the embassy, claiming to be an officer of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. Cabinet Secretary Minaru Kihara expressed regret over the incident and said that following the event, necessary security measures had been implemented to prevent a recurrence.

This incident occurred during a period of deteriorating relations between China and Japan stemming from Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's comments regarding China and Taiwan late last year.
