JIC Thailand Criticizes Cambodian Media for Distorting Thai-Cambodian History

Bangkok: JIC Thailand criticizes Cambodian media for distorting Thai-Cambodian history and urges them to stop inciting hatred. Air Chief Marshal Praphas Sonjaidee, Director of the Joint Information Center (JIC), commented on the dissemination of a film containing content that alludes to Thai-Cambodian history, stating that the Joint Information Center (JIC) expresses concern over the dissemination of media or works that present content about Thai-Cambodian history in a way that may cause misunderstanding, incite hatred, or incite prejudice between the people of the two countries.

According to Thai News Agency, Air Chief Marshal Praphas said that Thailand affirms that the interpretation of history should be based on facts, verifiable evidence, and impartial academic work, not on creating stereotypes or making accusations against the other side without comprehensive information. Such actions could undermine trust and negatively impact the good relations between the people of both countries.

The Joint Information Centre (JIC) urges all parties to avoid disseminating information or media that distorts historical facts, to refrain from using media to incite hatred or provoke conflict, and to promote responsible information dissemination that respects facts and considers the impact on regional peace.

Air Chief Marshal Praphas reiterated that Thailand believes Thai-Cambodian relations should be based on truth, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of differences, not on creating division through the distortion of history or accusations aimed at inciting hatred.
