Jirayu Confident in Prime Minister’s Capability Amid Upcoming Censure Debate

Bangkok: “Jirayu” has expressed confidence in Prime Minister Paethongtarn’s ability to address the upcoming censure debate, urging the opposition to engage in a respectful manner. Mr. Jirayu Huangtrakul, an advisor to the Prime Minister, commented on the no-confidence debate scheduled for Monday, emphasizing the importance of constructive discourse.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu, who has participated in over ten no-confidence debates, called for the opposition, whether they are new generation members or experienced politicians, to focus on content that addresses the country’s challenges. He noted that the era of using inflammatory rhetoric is over, as the public desires progress and economic improvement after years of stagnation. Mr. Jirayu highlighted that historically, no-confidence votes have not resulted in a successful motion against the Prime Minister, as parliamentary majorities typically support the executive branch. He emphasized the need for constructive debate that offers solutions to propel Thailand’s development, especially given the recent improvements in the country’s growth indices.

Mr. Jirayu expressed confidence in Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra’s ability to address any concerns during the debate, citing her as an exemplary new generation leader capable of addressing long-standing issues in Thai society. He praised her effective governance and visionary leadership at both national and international levels, noting her ability to understand perspectives across generations. Mr. Jirayu anticipated the debate would reflect a new form of discourse, with opposition parties offering constructive advice to enhance the administration of the country.

He further urged opposition members to refrain from using provocative or disrespectful language, as seen in previous debates, which he argued is unacceptable in Thai society. “Thai society cannot accept insulting or degrading language,” Mr. Jirayu remarked, stressing the importance of maintaining a respectful dialogue during the debate.
