London: Joe Cole, a legend of both England and Chelsea, has issued a cautionary message to his former teammate Frank Lampard, advising him against taking up the role of Chelsea manager again if offered the position this summer.
According to Thai News Agency, Lampard recently rehabilitated his reputation by leading Coventry City to an EFL Championship victory, securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years. Lampard took over the team in November 2024 when they were struggling in 17th place, demonstrating his capability to turn the team's fortunes around.
Lampard's impressive performance has positioned him as a potential candidate for Chelsea's managerial role, following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, who was sacked after less than four months in charge. Despite this opportunity, Joe Cole has urged Lampard not to consider returning to Chelsea, where he has previously faced challenges that tarnished his reputation.
