Justice Minister Plans Media Visit to Observe Uighur Living Conditions in China

Bangkok: The Minister of Justice is preparing to assign the Minister of Interior to take members of the media to China to observe the living conditions of the Uighurs, following their return to their homeland. This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to provide transparency regarding the situation of the Uighur community.

According to Thai News Agency, government spokesman Jirayu Huangsap announced that Chatchai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), and Pol. Gen. Kraibhun Trawadsong, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, returned to Thailand early this morning. They brought back a video clip summarizing the Uighurs’ repatriation. The working group is tasked with compiling the details of their mission and reporting back to the Prime Minister.

Jirayu Huangsap further explained that the working group on the “11-Year Mission Possible” initiative had created a 1.52-minute video. This video outlines the procedures and outcomes of safely returning the Uighurs to their homeland.

Additionally, Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, is in discussions with the working group to finalize the details of a return visit to Xinjiang Province in China. The purpose of this visit is to monitor the living conditions of the Uighurs, as promised by the Chinese government. Thawee has proposed that Deputy Minister of Interior, Ms. Thirat Samretwanich, be tasked with coordinating the trip, which should occur within the next 15-30 days.
