Khon kaen: Villagers breathe a sigh of relief, hoping the government will reinstate their welfare benefits. Residents of Khon Kaen province are filled with hope after the government extended the deadline for reviewing eligibility for the state welfare card for those who are currently appealing.

According to Thai News Agency, a news team visited Pa Wai Nang Subdistrict, Ban Fang District, Khon Kaen Province, where community leaders and village heads provided assistance, verified eligibility, and helped villagers file appeals, in accordance with the Ministry of Interior's policy. This followed the discovery that approximately 800 people in the area had their eligibility rejected, mostly due to issues related to vehicle ownership. Many of these vehicles were for agricultural use or owned on behalf of family members.

In Ban Kham Subdistrict, Nam Phong District, villagers who had previously received the state welfare card but were disqualified in the latest round of consideration expressed joy and hope that their eligibility would be reinstated after the government extended the deadline for reviewing eligibility. They viewed the program as a significant help in reducing monthly expenses for consumption and benefited low-income individuals. They also urged the government to verify information more thoroughly in the future.

Meanwhile, Mr. Prapas Khamphraya, the headman of Ban Kham Subdistrict, Nam Phong District, said that most villagers are facing hardship. Although the assistance is not much, it is crucial for their survival. He suggested that the government should clearly communicate the criteria for eligibility to reduce misunderstandings among the public.
