Bangkok: Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party, has issued a scathing critique of the “cobra” MPs, accusing them of dishonesty and betrayal towards their political parties. She emphasized that these MPs should face consequences from the people for their actions.
According to Thai News Agency, Khunying Sudarat took to Facebook to express her disappointment following a vote in the House of Representatives that showed a lack of unity within her party. Five out of six MPs from the Thai Sang Thai Party voted in favor of trusting Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, despite their opposition party’s resolution. In her message, she highlighted the importance of the debate of no confidence as a mechanism for government accountability, lamenting that the government secured victory without needing the support of “snake MPs.”
She further elaborated that the true victory in such debates should come from the ‘faith’ of the people, who desire honest and capable governance. Citizens expect their leaders to address problems sincerely, not to exploit their positions for personal gain through projects with hidden benefits, which she termed as ‘policy corruption.’
Khunying Sudarat also condemned the actions of the snake MPs who, she claimed, have betrayed the electorate and their party by acting unethically for personal gain. She called for these individuals to be held accountable by both the public and the justice system for their serious ethical violations that undermine the democratic system.
