Bangkok: Their Majesties the King and Queen performed charitable acts during the Songkran Festival in the year 2569 Buddhist Era (2026 CE). His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen proceeded to perform royal merit-making ceremonies at various halls within the Grand Palace.
According to Thai News Agency, today at 10:00 AM, the royal couple traveled by royal automobile to the Grand Palace, where they conducted merit-making ceremonies for the Songkran Festival. The ceremonies took place at the Phra Suraphalai Piman Hall, Phaisan Thaksin Throne Hall, Phra That Montien Hall, and Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was present to receive His Majesty the King at the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall.
Upon arriving at the Phra Suraphalai Piman Hall, His Majesty the King engaged in traditional rituals, including sprinkling holy water on important Buddha images and lighting incense and candles. He then moved to the Phaisan Thaksin Throne Hall to pay homage to Phra Siam Thewathirat. The ceremonies continued at the Phra That Montien Hall, where the King paid royal homage and performed rites for the royal remains and relics.
At the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall, His Majesty worshipped Buddha images commemorating past reigns. His Holiness Somdej Phra Ariyavongsakhatayan, the Supreme Patriarch, offered blessings and prayers. Subsequently, His Majesty offered food to the Supreme Patriarch and senior monks, with additional offerings made by the Royal Family and officials to all 77 monks present.
Afterward, the royal urns containing the ashes of the late King and Queen were placed on the royal throne. Buddhist monks chanted prayers, and both Majesties paid reverence to the royal ashes by lighting incense and candles. His Majesty also offered robes to the monks in a series of ceremonial presentations and concluded the ceremonies with respects to the commemorative Buddha images and royal remains.
The royal couple, after receiving respects from those present, departed from the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall and returned to the palace.
