King’s Urgent Command Leads to Mobilization of Forces for Southern Flood Evacuation

Bangkok: The King is concerned! The Prime Minister has received an urgent royal command and ordered the mobilization of all forces to evacuate flood victims in the South to their safety. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a critical meeting to address the severe flooding impacting southern provinces, an issue that has alarmed the nation.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting was attended by a high-profile delegation including His Majesty the King’s Private Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram, Deputy Prime Minister Captain Thammanat Prompow, and other key government officials. The meeting, held via Zoom, also included Paradorn Prisananantakul, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, Ms. Supamas Isaraphakdi, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, and General Nataphol Nakphanit, Minister of Defense, among others. The focus was to devise a strategic response to the flooding crisis.

On this occasion, His Majesty the King conveyed his deep concern for the people affected by the floods, urging the government to take immediate action. His Majesty has offered comprehensive assistance, mobilizing forces from the military, police, and government agencies to aid in evacuation efforts. The Royal Thai Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with the Ministry of Interior, have been tasked to ensure the swift and safe evacuation of residents from dangerous areas, providing essential supplies such as food and water.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude and commitment to the royal command, ensuring the mobilization of all available resources to alleviate the situation. Provinces affected by the floods, including Songkhla, have been declared disaster areas to facilitate integrated assistance. With the situation particularly dire in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, the government has escalated the situation to a state of emergency, with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation raising the severity level to 4. A Situation Management Center is being established to ensure systematic and timely aid to those affected.
