According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, received a report from Mr. Thirut Suphawibulphon, Governor of Surat Thani Province, regarding the monitoring of the situation following the 2.4 magnitude earthquake at a depth of 4 km at 12:47 a.m. today.
Mr. Amorn Chumchuai, the Koh Samui District Chief, collaborated with Mr. Poonchit Khamlun, Acting Head of the Surat Thani Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, Koh Samui Branch, along with representatives from Koh Samui Municipality and the Koh Samui Tourism and Hotel Business Association. They immediately responded to the scene upon receiving the report. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 9.550°N, 99.956°E, Ang Thong Subdistrict, Koh Samui District, Surat Thani Province. Residents felt the tremors for only a short period of time. Since this morning, the integrated team has been surveying the Koh Samui area and has not found any damage to life or property.
