Chiang khong: Chiang Khong police are coordinating with Laos to expedite the hunt for the thief who stole 184 baht worth of gold. Police revealed that the two suspects in the gold heist, which yielded 184 baht worth of gold, are Laotian nationals. They traced them to an abandoned motorcycle on the banks of the Mekong River, where they fled by boat across the border. Police are coordinating with Laos to apprehend them.

According to Thai News Agency, a robbery occurred yesterday evening at a gold shop in a shopping mall in Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province. The perpetrator used a firearm to steal gold jewelry, including gold necklaces weighing a total of 64 baht and gold bracelets weighing a total of 120 baht, for a total of 184 baht of gold. The estimated damage is 13,036,400 baht.

Following the incident, police quickly gathered evidence, examined CCTV footage, and traced the suspect's escape route. It was determined that the perpetrator used a rented motorcycle in the crime, which was then abandoned by the Mekong River near the Golden Giant Catfish area before fleeing the scene.

Regarding the progress of the case, Police Major General Manop Senakool, Commander of the Chiang Rai Provincial Police, revealed today that the two suspects are Laotian nationals. After the crime, they fled on a motorcycle and parked it on the banks of the Mekong River before boarding a waiting boat to cross to the Huay Xai town in Laos. Currently, forensic officers are collecting information on the suspects, along with information from immigration officers in Chiang Saen, and are coordinating with Laotian authorities to track down and prosecute the suspects according to the law.
