Bangkok: A major initiative aimed at discovering and nurturing young Thai talent, 'The Idol Next Gen Thailand 2026,' was recently unveiled at the Phoenix Auditorium, Phoenix Project, Pratunam. Spearheaded by accomplished female executives Som Phisanuphon Kaewpipop and Tip Phanthip Wattanawarun, the platform seeks to elevate Thai youth to the global entertainment stage, embracing a concept of "Young but Mighty" that emphasizes gender inclusiveness.
According to Thai News Agency, the project was inspired by the potential of modern youth, as observed by Som and Tip, who both have children of similar ages. Recognizing the need for a platform that is inclusive of all genders, they aim to provide an opportunity for Thai youth-regardless of being male, female, or LGBTQ+-to showcase their talents and express their individuality.
A key aspect of the project is the esteemed panel of judges, featuring Not Maxim (Kritin Jikitsilapin), Num Prasert Jermjutitham, and Vespa (Ittipol Seniwong Na Ayutthaya), who are not only tasked with the selection process but also scouting for new artists. The competition winner will represent Thailand on the international stage at Junior Celebrity World, with additional training provided by the organizers.
Som Phisanuphon elaborated on the judging criteria, which are divided into two age groups: children and teenagers. The criteria focus on all-around abilities, quick wit, problem-solving skills, and captivating stage performances that reflect individuality. The competition, which is the largest of its kind in Thailand, offers invaluable experiences and friendships, supported by Boss Kitty, Kittiporn Nantanont, CEO and Founder of ICE AGE / Gelato pop Thailand, and Mim Rawipim Chumsai Na Ayutthaya, CEO of Minny kids closet. Applications are open until the end of February, inviting all to join the 'The Idol Next Gen' family.
