Lawyer Tum Discusses Relationship with Former Deputy Police Commissioner

Accra:First paragraph of the news story.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sittra Biabangkerd, known as Lawyer Tum, recently shared insights on his YouTube channel about his interactions with Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakparn, the former Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police. Their association began in January 2019 when Lawyer Tum filed a complaint against another individual for unauthorized access to civil registration information. This led him to meet Pol. Gen. Surachet, who was later transferred to a civil service position under an NCPO order.

Lawyer Tum recounted that during this period, he filed a complaint with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) regarding alleged corruption in the Royal Thai Police's Biometrics project. Despite initially refusing an envelope suspected to contain money from Pol. Gen. Surachet, Lawyer Tum agreed to file complaints against four individuals, which led to conflicts with the police.

Further tension arose in 2020 when Pol. Gen. Surachet's car was targeted in a shooting incident. Following this, Tum sought updates on the Biometrics project, which prompted Pol. Gen. Surachet to provide a list of witnesses for the NACC to interview. This move intensified the situation with the police.

Lawyer Tum also described multiple legal challenges he faced, citing six cases and two arrest warrants in 2020. He claimed that Pol. Gen. Surachet promised to resolve these issues, yet no assistance materialized, leading to ongoing prosecutions.

Tum elaborated on his changing perceptions of Pol. Gen. Surachet, revealing how he was influenced by promises of support that were never fulfilled. Despite initial trust, Tum expressed disillusionment due to unkept promises and continued legal battles.
