(LEAD) Yoon hosts dinner meeting with new ruling party leadership

President Yoon Suk Yeol hosted a dinner meeting with Han Dong-hoon, the newly elected ruling party leader, Wednesday, a day after Han's sweeping victory in the party leadership election. The dinner, held in the garden in front of the presidential office, was also attended by the five newly elected Supreme Council members of the ruling People Power Party (PPP), the party's floor leader and policy chief, as well as the candidates who ran for party leader. During the meeting, Yoon called for improved communication and cooperation between the government and the party, as well as unity within the party, according to presidential spokesperson Jeong Hye-jeon. Han responded that he will exert efforts to ensure the success of the Yoon government and help the party win another presidency in the future. For the two-hour dinner, Yoon reportedly chose "ssam" as the main dish -- a Korean dish of meat and various condiments wrapped in lettuce -- as a symbol of harmony. Yoon and Han also briefly performed a "love shot, " an act of showing unity by drinking with their arms linked. "I hope you don't leave him alone when difficulties arise, but go and help him," Yoon said, referring to Han. On Tuesday, Han was elected as the new PPP head with a whopping 62.8 percent of the vote, beating former Land Minister Won Hee-ryong and five-term lawmakers Rep. Na Kyung-won and Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun.
