Bangkok: The Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs led leaders from five religions to pay respects to the Supreme Patriarch. Mr. Chaiyapol Suk-iam, Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs, guided a delegation comprising leaders from Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and Sikhism to offer tributes and sign a book of homage before the image of His Holiness Somdej Phra Ariyavongsakhatayan, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, on the occasion of his 99th birthday at the Vihara of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, the delegation included representatives from all five religions, executives from the Department of Religious Affairs, and related officials. They participated in the ceremony to express respect, gratitude, and reverence for His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch. His Holiness has contributed significantly to the stability and prosperity of Buddhism, promoted education, social welfare, moral and ethical development, and fostered interreligious understanding in Thailand.
His Holiness Somdej Phra Ariyavongsakhatayan celebrated his 99th birthday on June 26, 2026. This occasion holds great significance for Buddhism and Buddhists throughout the country. As the spiritual leader of the Thai Sangha, he has served as a unifying force for Buddhists and has continuously performed religious duties both domestically and internationally.
The Office of the Secretary to the Supreme Patriarch has opened the main chapel of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam to the public for paying respects and signing a book of condolences from June 21-25, 2026. Attendees are requested to adhere to the temple's guidelines for order and respect.
