Kuala lumpur: A U.S. court has sentenced Ryan Routh, 59, to life in prison for attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump during a golf tournament ahead of the 2024 presidential election, after a jury found him guilty.
According to Thai News Agency, during the trial, prosecutors argued that Routh's crime warranted a life sentence, citing premeditation and his lack of remorse. Despite this, during the trial, Routh, acting as his own attorney, attempted to plead for a reduced sentence of 27 years, arguing he did not intend to murder Trump and expressing a desire to undergo treatment for a personality disorder within prison.
