Lily Nguyen and Lawyer Face Preliminary Hearing in Defamation Case Filed by Poo Manthana

Bangkok: The court has scheduled a preliminary hearing for Lily Nguyen, along with her lawyer, as the defendant in the defamation case filed by Poo Manthana. The ongoing legal battle between Poo Manthana and Lily Nguyen has transformed from a debt collection dispute into a defamation lawsuit. This morning, Lily Nguyen and her lawyer, Kook Amnuayporn, appeared at the Ratchadaphisek Criminal Court, supported by Lukmee Rasmi.

According to Thai News Agency, the lawsuit stems from a television appearance two years ago where Lily and her lawyer publicly demanded repayment of a debt to Poo Manthana. The legal team expressed confusion over the specific statements or clips that constituted defamation, as the lawsuit did not clearly specify them, leaving the defendants uncertain about their defense strategy. Lily shared her frustration, stating that the prolonged legal process has taken a toll on her personal life and mental health.

Lily emphasized her willingness to face the consequences, even prison, if necessary. She reiterated her financial incapacity to compensate for any wrongdoing and expressed her readiness to leave Thailand if required. Her lawyer, Kook, highlighted additional legal concerns, including potential complaints about Lily’s personal status and taxes, which could cause significant damage if unfounded.

Kook questioned Poo Manthana’s selective targeting in the lawsuit, as other individuals were also involved in the public exchanges. Lukmee Rasmi noted that Poo Manthana faces multiple legal battles, including a civil case where she was ordered to pay 2 million baht, and a criminal fraud case related to an investment in a handbag business.

Lukmee expressed concern over the 17 lawsuits involving Poo Manthana, emphasizing the stress and exhaustion from facing numerous legal challenges. She advocated for resolution through understanding and forgiveness rather than continued litigation. Despite being sued, Lily expressed pity and concern for Poo Manthana, hoping for reconciliation and a return to the entertainment industry.

Lily concluded by expressing her desire for resolution through compassion and understanding, rather than legal victories, as she believes court battles are burdensome for all parties involved.
