Bangkok: Lisa has publicly criticized Dr. Soran for using deceptive tactics to maintain his position as the chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and has called on the Prime Minister to cease supporting him.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Pakamon Nunanan, a party-list MP from the People's Party and Chair of the House of Representatives' Committee on Political Development, Mass Media, and Public Participation, expressed her concerns during a session at Parliament. She highlighted the issue of NBTC meetings collapsing multiple times due to Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk's refusal to step down despite being deemed unqualified by the selection committee. Ms. Pakamon emphasized that Dr. Soran should have vacated his position once the committee determined his lack of qualifications.

The responsibility now lies with the Prime Minister, who is legally obligated to submit Dr. Soran's dismissal for royal approval. Ms. Pakamon questioned whether the delay in the Prime Minister's actions is linked to a past association with Dr. Soran, given their shared advisor in a previous cabinet. She stressed that the Prime Minister must prioritize national responsibilities and provide clarity to the public.

Ms. Pakamon also announced that the committee will gather input from other NBTC board members regarding the implications of Dr. Soran's continued chairmanship. She noted the upcoming consideration of the USO fund, involving significant financial projects, and expressed concerns about Dr. Soran's overseas travel commitments impacting his duties.

She urged for transparency in NBTC operations, calling for public board meetings and disclosure of the NBTC's annual budget. Ms. Pakamon questioned whether Dr. Soran's claims of violating Section 157 were valid, given his expired qualifications and alleged submission of false information to secure his position.

In response to queries about the selection committee's role, Ms. Pakamon clarified that the Bank of Thailand's Governor was a legally qualified member of the committee, dismissing any relevance of committee differences. She urged the public to judge Dr. Soran's actions, highlighting his vested interests and the potential personal benefits linked to the USO fund.
