M6 Exit Closure Announced for M9 Construction Project

Bangkok:The government has announced the temporary closure of the exit from Expressway No. 6 (M6) to the westbound lanes of Expressway No. 9 (M9) starting November 6, 2026. This closure is to facilitate the construction of the M9 section between Lat Lum Kaeo and Bang Pa-in.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the Department of Highways (DOH) under the Ministry of Transport will implement traffic adjustments at the Bang Pa-in 2 interchange, affecting motorists traveling on M6 towards M9 westbound (Bang Bua Thong). The construction work, part of the M9 Bangkok Outer Ring Road (Western Section) project, is expected to conclude by March 31, 2027.

During this period, traffic from M9 will be diverted to parallel roads, Highways 3901 and 3902, which have been expanded to accommodate the increased flow. Motorists from M6 towards M9 will need to use alternative routes, such as exiting onto Highway 1 (Phahonyothin Road) or M9 (East). However, access ramps for motorists traveling from M9 towards M6 remain operational.

The government urges road users to plan their journeys in advance, reduce speed in construction zones, and adhere to traffic signage for safety. The DOH will provide updates on road closures and alternative routes, and has implemented measures such as warning signs and traffic personnel to manage the situation. 24-hour monitoring of traffic conditions will be conducted to minimize travel disruptions during the construction phase.
