Bangkok: “Madam Cher” has lodged a complaint with the NACC, calling for an investigation into an MP identified only by the initial “S”, who allegedly accepted more than 3,000 baht, breaching the ethics guidelines for political officials. She also plans to pursue an inquiry into “former ministers, daughters, and sons-in-law” suspected of corruption at a National Parks Department store.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Netdao Watcharachainanwong, also known as Madam Cher, submitted the complaint to the Secretary-General of the NACC. She requested an investigation into the MP’s conduct, which may involve receiving assets or benefits exceeding the legal limit of 3,000 baht. On approximately February 28, 2024, she reportedly transferred 120,000 baht via bank to the MP, providing evidence through a LINE application conversation and a money transfer slip.
Ms. Netdao asserted that the MP qualifies as a political official under the law governing political official regulations, mandating adherence to the Code of Ethics for Political Officials B.E. 2564. As a ‘state official’ under the Organic Act on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption B.E. 2561, the MP must also comply with the NACC’s announcement on asset receipt criteria for government officials in ethics B.E. 2563. She urged the NACC to report the investigation results within 15 days for further consideration.
Ms. Netdao further disclosed her intention to pursue an investigation against a former minister, along with the minister’s daughter and son-in-law, over alleged corruption at a National Park Department store. The decision followed information received from a well-wisher, which was verified through investigation. She plans to file the complaint with NACC soon to determine the presence of corruption.
