Chiang mai: The head of Ob Luang National Park ordered the closure of Mae Tia Waterfall in Chiang Mai Province after flash floods stranded 25 tourists in the area. Officials have since rescued them.
According to Thai News Agency, continuous heavy rains have hit Ob Luang National Park in Chiang Mai Province, resulting in flash floods at Mae Tia Waterfall. The currents are swift and the water level is rising rapidly, leaving 25 tourists camping overnight stranded at the campsite.
A total of 50 rescue personnel from Ob Luang National Park, along with Doi Kaeo Subdistrict Municipality, the Chiang Mai Disaster Response Club, and the Thewarit Foundation, provided assistance and all were safely rescued.
Ms. Nipaporn Paisarn, Chief of Ob Luang National Park, recently issued an announcement ordering the temporary closure of Mae Tia Waterfall, a tourist attraction.
