MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR CALLS ON THAI DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

BANGKOK, Thailand Malaysian ambassador to Thailand Datuk Jojie Samuel today called on Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon at his office in the Defence Ministry here yesterday.

Thai Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich said both men discussed issues of mutual interest.

“They discussed about how to expand cooperation between the two countries including on economic development along the Sadao-Bukit Kayu Hitam corridor, as it is a very important point for border trade,” he said in a statement issued after the courtesy call here, yesterday.

The Malaysian ambassador and Prawit, he said, also discussed security cooperation between Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok especially related to problems of human and drug trafficking as well as illegal entry and dual citizenship.

The Deputy Prime Minister, he said, wanted both countries to prioritise the problems and establish close collaboration to deal with these matters.

Prawit, according to Kongcheep, also wished success for the Malaysian general election. polling of which is on Wednesday (May 9) .
