Man Accepts Punishment for Killing Brother-in-Law in Nonthaburi Province.

Nonthaburi: The man who shot his brother-in-law has accepted punishment for his actions. The suspect, identified as Mr. Jakkapan or Por, aged 25, was involved in the fatal shooting of his brother-in-law, Mr. Chakrawat, aged 35, in a rice paddy. In a moment of grief, Mr. Jakkapan poured out his tears in front of his mother before bowing down to accept the consequences of his actions.

According to Thai News Agency, investigators at Bang Mae Nang Police Station have brought Mr. Jakkapan in for further questioning. He is now facing charges of intentional murder and an offense under the Firearms Act. The authorities plan to take him to Nonthaburi Provincial Court to request a detention order. His mother, Ms. Phatthathida, 50, was present to offer her son support as he was escorted to the prison van.

The tragic incident occurred late last night when a report of a shooting was received by Bang Mae Nang Police Station. The shooting took place in an alley next to Wat Uam-Ong Prachanimit, Nong Prang Ngai Subdistrict,
Bang Yai District. Mr. Chakrawat was shot in the chest with a homemade gun. Police found Mr. Jakkapan hiding with his mother in a worker’s room approximately 50 meters from the crime scene, leading to his arrest.

Mr. Jakkapan confessed that long-standing resentment from being criticized and ongoing issues with the deceased, his uncle-in-law, led to the argument preceding the shooting. He retrieved a gun hidden behind the house, initially intending only to threaten. However, following an attack by Mr. Chakrawat, resulting in injuries to his face and head, Mr. Jakkapan shot his uncle-in-law. He claimed the act was unintentional, but the victim, who had played a significant role in raising him, succumbed to the injury. Mr. Jakkapan expressed remorse over the incident. The gun used was reportedly purchased on Facebook for approximately 4,000-5,000 baht.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s wife expressed her deep sorrow, as her husband was the family’s main support. She refuted Mr. Jakkapan’s claims of a longstanding grud
ge, stating that her husband had always been supportive of him. She was by her husband’s side, embracing him in his final moments.
