Bangkok: Investigators at Phaholyothin Police Station have summoned the individuals involved in the assault on ‘Lawyer Thammarat’ to the public prosecutor, with the case heading to Phra Nakhon Nuea Criminal Court.

According to Thai News Agency, Phaholyothin Police Station investigators have called upon Mr. Charuwet, also known as Toey, aged 28, and Mr. P, the accused in the assault on Mr. Thammarat, a lawyer. The incident occurred during a press conference where Mr. Thammarat filed a complaint against Teacher Beer at the Crime Suppression Division’s complaint center. The case is set to be evaluated by the public prosecutor before being forwarded to the Phra Nakhon Nuea Criminal Court.

Mr. Charuwet stated that he went to the Central Investigation Bureau on November 1 to question Lawyer Thammarat about a controversial Facebook post regarding Muslims. Feeling insulted by the post, Mr. Charuwet claimed he lost his temper during an interview and slapped Lawyer Thammarat. He emphasized that his actions were not p
remeditated and stemmed from anger at Lawyer Thammarat’s refusal to discuss the issue.

Mr. Charuwet insisted he acted alone, and his friends present were not involved in the assault. He also claimed that Lawyer Thammarat engaged in mutual harm, suggesting that both parties should face charges of voluntary fighting. He plans to request bail at the Phra Nakhon Nuea Criminal Court and expressed willingness to accept his guilt if bail is denied.

Meanwhile, Lawyer Thammarat is heading to the Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court to oppose Mr. Charuwet’s bail request. He also intends to provide further testimony and file additional charges at the Phaholyothin Police Station.

Mr. Charuwet has posted bail at the investigation officer level with 50,000 baht in cash and is scheduled to appear in court on November 2. He has confessed to the charges. Conversely, Mr. P denied the charges and was granted temporary bail without posting security, as he voluntarily met with the investigator. He will meet with the public prosecut
or to hear the indictment order.

The investigation has led to charges against both individuals under Section 295 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to causing physical or mental harm. The charge carries a potential punishment of up to two years imprisonment, a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both.
