May Sai Supanida Advances to Quarterfinals in SEA Games Badminton Tournament

Thammasat university: “May Left” Supanida Ketthong, world number 12, has advanced to the quarterfinals of the women’s singles badminton event at the 2025 SEA Games.

According to Thai News Agency, the 2025 SEA Games badminton tournament at Gymnasium 4, Thammasat University, Rangsit, began with the first day of individual events. In a highly anticipated matchup, “May Sai” Supanida Ketthong, representing Thailand, clashed with Vu Tri Trang from Vietnam, who holds the world rank of 137 in the women’s singles first round.

Supanida displayed remarkable performance throughout the match. Despite a challenging first game, she managed to secure a narrow victory with a score of 21-19. Regaining her typical form in the second game, she showcased her prowess by winning decisively at 21-7. This straight-set victory secured her a place in the quarterfinals. In the next round, Supanida is set to compete against De Guzman Michaela Joy from the Philippines, ranked 179th globally. De Guzman advanced following her win over Lin Lin Thet from Myanmar, who is ranked 745th in the world, with a score of 2-0 (21-8, 21-12).
