MCOT Unveils Intelligent Disaster Warning System Using DAB+ Digital Radio Network

Bangkok: MCOT has showcased its Intelligent Disaster Warning System (ASA) through the DAB+ digital radio network, highlighting its potential beyond traditional radio broadcasting.

According to Thai News Agency, this presentation underscores the capability of the DAB+ digital radio network to evolve into a vital national emergency warning infrastructure. The system is designed to significantly reduce loss of life and property by improving communication between the government and the public during crises. It supports rapid and accurate decision-making by recipients of information and fortifies the country's long-term communication security. Additionally, it is poised to aid in the development of smart cities and digital government services.

The system targets individuals in high-risk areas, security forces, disaster management agencies, media providers, and relevant regulatory bodies, enabling them to integrate their efforts through a unified network. This integration ensures that disaster warnings are delivered swiftly, accurately, and comprehensively to the public.

A representative from MCOT emphasized, "Developing the DAB+ digital radio network to support the Automatic Disaster Warning System (ASA) is not just about upgrading broadcasting technology, but about laying the foundation for long-term national security. We believe that timely communication to the public is a key factor in reducing losses and enhancing the country's capacity to respond to crises."

MCOT's involvement in this initiative marks a significant step forward in the national deployment of a digital radio-based disaster warning system, with the overarching aim of enhancing public safety and bolstering Thailand's preparedness for future disasters.
