MEA and Royal Thai Navy Inspect Electrical Readiness for Royal Barge Procession

Bangkok:MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority), in collaboration with the Royal Thai Navy, has conducted a thorough inspection of the electrical and lighting systems along the Chao Phraya River in preparation for the upcoming Royal Barge Procession. This initiative aims to ensure the highest level of safety and readiness for the event.

According to Thai News Agency, the inspection took place on November 4, 2026, under the direction of Mr. Dichawat Chan-ee, Governor of MEA. Mr. Kasem Sarathonghak, Deputy Governor of MEA, and Mr. Sombat Laphan, Assistant Governor of MEA, led the survey of the power supply and lighting systems along both banks of the Chao Phraya River. This preparation supports the Royal Barge Procession scheduled for November 6, 2026, in commemoration of the 4th cycle birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The inspection also involved coordination with various agencies, with Admiral Rattana Ruangrung, Chairman of the Royal Barge Procession Preparation Committee, participating at Wang Daem Pier.

The Deputy Governor of MEA emphasized the organization's commitment to ensuring the readiness of the electrical systems for significant national royal ceremonies. The inspection served as a rehearsal and a check of the backup power, public lighting systems, and electrical connection points along the riverbanks. MEA has installed electrical systems at key locations such as the King Rama VIII Monument, Rama VIII Park, and Santi Chai Prakan Park. Additional installations for live broadcasts are in place at strategic locations, including Tha Wasukri, Boromongkol Police Station, and Wat Kruehabodi among others.

MEA has also prepared a comprehensive team equipped with vehicles and emergency backup power systems, totaling 29 sets, at Wat Arun Ratchawararam, Rama VIII Bridge, the joint command center at the Royal Thai Navy Club, and Tha Wasukri Pier. Four uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems have been installed in the Wat Arun Ratchawararam and Tha Wasukri areas to guarantee a stable power supply throughout the ceremony.
