MEA Expands Volunteer Network to Boost Social Assistance Efforts

Khlong toei: MEA is building an army of "model volunteers" to elevate social assistance efforts. MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority) is building an army of "model volunteers" to enhance social assistance and honor good people who make sacrifices for a sustainable urban lifestyle.

According to Thai News Agency, MEA, or the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, is moving forward in building a network of volunteer employees to be more than just electricity providers. This is being done through the "Meeting Volunteer Friends" activity for 2025, honoring 53 exemplary employees (MEA Volunteer Role Models) who have demonstrated dedication and outstanding performance in continuously assisting the public. The focus is on extracting lessons learned from their real-world experiences during the Hat Yai floods, in order to develop skills in crisis management and provide the most effective care to the public in the service area. This reinforces the organization's culture of standing by and supporting the well-being of the public in all circumstances.

On February 16, 2026, Mr. Komkrit Sakarik, Assistant Governor of MEA and Chairman of the Volunteer Management Working Group, presided over the opening ceremony of the 2025 'Volunteer Friendship Meeting' at MEA Headquarters in Khlong Toei. The event brought together over 150 volunteer employees to exchange experiences and strengthen their 'Volunteer DNA.' A highlight of the event was an in-depth seminar on volunteer work in crisis situations, specifically the Hat Yai floods. This valuable knowledge will be applied by MEA to prepare for assisting the public in emergency situations in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan.

In addition, the Assistant Governor of MEA presented "Achievement Jackets" and MEA Volunteer Badges as symbols of pride to volunteer employees who had accumulated 48 hours of work or participated in 12 activities. This also included honoring honorary volunteer employees who received awards for the third consecutive year, reflecting the unwavering commitment and reliability of MEA personnel in dedicating themselves to society. These volunteer networks will serve as a bridge and a vital component in driving various public benefit projects to reach the public comprehensively and sustainably.
