MEA Mobilizes Volunteer Technicians to Restore Electrical System in Southern Region

Bangkok: MEA is taking decisive action to restore the electrical system in the flood-stricken southern region by mobilizing volunteer technicians. This initiative aims to quickly bring back light and safety to the flood victims, ensuring their well-being as recovery efforts continue.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pisanu Tantithaworn, Deputy Governor of MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority), led the convoy launching ceremony, with senior executives and MEA staff present to support and send off the volunteer technicians. These technicians were dispatched from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority’s headquarters in Khlong Toei to assist those affected by the floods in the South.

For this critical mission, MEA has assembled a team of electrical system experts to target key areas in need of urgent attention. The main objective is to accelerate the inspection and repair of household electrical systems, ensuring they operate safely according to engineering standards and minimizing the risk of electrical hazards once the floodwaters subside.

Mr. Pisanu Tantithaworn emphasized MEA’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by southern citizens, particularly concerning electrical safety post-floods, which present a significant risk. He announced the deployment of over 30 skilled volunteer technicians equipped with modern tools, who will conduct fieldwork from December 4-9, 2025. This effort not only focuses on repairs but also aims to provide moral support, reinforcing MEA’s dedication to serving all Thais in alignment with its vision of “Energy for the Urban Lifestyle.”

The MEA volunteer teams will prioritize inspecting flooded electrical wiring, sockets, and switches to prevent potential electrical leaks and short circuits. Collaboration with local authorities is also underway to ensure that assistance reaches the most severely impacted areas.

Residents are encouraged to report any damaged or unsafe MEA electrical wires or equipment.
