HSINCHU, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — MediaTek is proud to announce that it was recently honored by both Thomson Reuters and Harvard Business Review (HBR), with the company breaking into the ranks of Reuters’ Top 100 Global Innovators for the first time, and Chairman Ming-Kai Tsai once again named in HBR’s annual The Best Performing CEOs in the World ranking.
The elite ranking of HBR’s The Best Performing CEOs in the World is created through rigorous analysis based on hard data. Scoring methods not only take into account financial indicators such as ROE and market value, but also each CEO’s long-term performance. This year, Chairman Tsai was once again named in HBR’s The Best Performing CEOs in the World. Making it into the rankings for the second year in a row, Chairman Tsai is also the first ever Taiwanese to make the list. Last year, Mr. Tsai was ranked 83rd, however, this year sees him coming in at number 21. The Best Performing CEOs in the World 2014 also include Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, John Chambers, CEO of Cisco, as well as Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix.
"For our employees and shareholders, long-term investment is more profitable than short-term. The technology environment has grown rapidly which makes it important to drive quick results and fulfill immediate requests, while ensuring we sustain lasting investment. The challenge we face is how to strike the right balance between instant results and planning for the future", said Chairman Tsai.
Also, 2014 marks the first year MediaTek was included among Reuters’ Top 100 Global Innovators – an index of 100 organizations representing some of the best examples of innovative thinking in the 21st century along with the successful alignment of innovation with corporate strategy. The Thomson Reuters 2014 Top 100 Global Innovators methodology is based on four principles: overall patent volume, patent grant success rate, global reach of the portfolio and patent influence as evidenced by citations.
