Bangkok:A court has sentenced a 77-year-old woman to one month in prison, suspended for two years, for driving a Mercedes-Benz against traffic on Vibhavadi Road. The incident led to the confiscation of her vehicle.
According to Thai News Agency, the Bangkok North District Court found Mrs. Phayao guilty of violating the Traffic Act after she drove against the flow of traffic on September 7, 2026. She initially received a two-month prison sentence and an 8,000 baht fine, but her guilty plea reduced the penalty to one month and a 4,000 baht fine. The court decided to suspend her prison sentence for two years, placing her on probation for one year.
As part of her probation, Mrs. Phayao is required to report to a probation officer three times and complete 12 hours of community service. Her driver's license has been suspended for six months, and the court has ordered the confiscation of the Mercedes-Benz involved in the offense.
