Merit-Making Ceremony Held in Bangkok to Honor Princesses

Bangkok: The Ministry of Transport and the Prime Minister's Office participated in a merit-making ceremony by offering alms to monks in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The ceremony was part of an ordination project under the patronage of the Supreme Patriarch.

According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Transport and the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office took part in the alms-giving ceremony. The event was dedicated to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi, Krom Luang Rajasarinisiripatchara Mahavajrarajathida. His Holiness Somdej Phra Ariyavongsakhatayan, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, assigned Somdej Phra Maha Veeravong to preside over the ceremony on his behalf.

The ceremony, held from June 13th to June 29th, 2026, at Wat Rajabopit Sathit Mahasimararam, Bangkok, involved alms offerings to 100 monks. Key attendees included Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, and Mrs. Yupa Thawiwattanakitbaworn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, among others.

The event is part of a broader monastic ordination project aimed at dedicating merit to Princess Bajrakitiyabha. Participating monks will engage in studying Buddhist scriptures and practicing meditation at designated institutions under the Supreme Patriarch's patronage, contributing to their spiritual growth and honoring the royal family.
