Meteorological Department Issues Alert for Heavy Rain in Southern Region and Hot Weather in Upper Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for the southern region of Thailand to prepare for heavy rain, flash floods, and mudslides, while the upper part of the country is expected to experience hot weather with thunderstorms in certain areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department has reported that some southern areas will face severe rainfall. Residents in these regions are advised to be vigilant against potential dangers from heavy and accumulated rain, which could lead to flash floods and forest runoff, particularly on hillsides near waterways and low-lying areas. The weather conditions are influenced by easterly winds moving across the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea, coupled with northwesterly winds covering the Andaman Sea. Waves in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are approximately 1 meter high, and in areas with thunderstorms, waves can exceed 2 meters. Sailors are advised to avoid navigating in stormy areas.

In the upper part of Thailand, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in some parts of the North, Northeast, and Central regions, along with hot daytime weather. Residents in these areas should be cautious of the dangers posed by thunderstorms and strong winds and should also take health precautions due to changing weather conditions. This is attributed to southern and southeastern winds bringing moisture over the upper regions of Thailand, which, combined with the hot temperatures, contribute to the weather dynamics.

Furthermore, dust and smog accumulation in the upper part of Thailand is currently at a slight to moderate level due to ongoing rain in some areas, which affects the accumulation of dust particles in the atmosphere.
