Meteorological Department Warns of Impending Summer Storms in Upper Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding upcoming summer storms predicted to affect upper Thailand from April 29th to May 1st, 2026. The regions expected to be hit include the North, Northeast, East, and eventually the Central region, encompassing Bangkok and its surrounding areas. These storms are anticipated to bring thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail, heavy rainfall, and possible lightning strikes.

According to Thai News Agency, the weather disturbances are attributed to a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China that is spreading over the Northeast and the South China Sea, coinciding with the hot to very hot conditions prevailing in upper Thailand. The department has advised the public in these areas to exercise caution during this period, particularly by avoiding open spaces, large trees, unstable structures, and weak advertising signs.

Residents, especially farmers, are advised to secure fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from potential damage caused by the storms. Additionally, individuals are encouraged to take care of their health as the weather conditions fluctuate.
