Bangkok: Deputy Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau has called on the State Audit Office to promptly submit a Terms of Reference (TOR) form to facilitate data comparison with the Department of Public Works of Bangkok. Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopphasin Poolsawat emphasized the urgency of this action as part of ongoing investigations into the recent collapse of the new Office of the Auditor General building.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopphasin Poolsawat, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Siam Boonsom and other officials, convened a meeting at Bang Sue Police Station to assess the progress of the investigation. The meeting, which extended beyond two hours, focused on accelerating the examination of evidence, including 240 pieces of steelwork and 59 pieces of cement, which have been submitted to King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang for analysis.
The investigation has so far involved questioning 60 witnesses, including the construction contractor, supervisor, and design company. However, the testimonies and documents remain incomplete. Investigators are particularly interested in obtaining the construction model calculation documents related to the TOR, as these would help identify the primary engineer and compare data with the Department of Public Works to verify its accuracy. The Office of the Auditor General has assured its cooperation in hastening the submission of the necessary documents.
A representative from the State Audit Office filed a complaint at Bang Sue Police Station against the project control company, following allegations of forged signatures on design revisions reported by an injured engineer. The representative committed to submitting all related documents to the investigators promptly.
The case also involves Mr. Patiwat Sirithai, a major shareholder of PN Sync Synchronization Co., Ltd., a company involved in the joint venture overseeing construction. Mr. Patiwat has been summoned twice for questioning, postponing the first meeting and providing limited information during the second. He has promised to furnish additional documents during a third meeting.
Officials are continuing to expedite the investigation by summoning all relevant parties for statements, with the aim of issuing subpoenas or arrest warrants as necessary for further legal proceedings.
