Middle-Aged Man Causes Car Accident After Drinking Beer

Trat:A middle-aged man drove off the road, claiming to have consumed only one bottle of alcohol. He became disoriented and was unable to report the exact accident location, leading police and rescue teams to search for him for several hours.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at approximately 3:00 AM. The Trat City Police Station's radio center received a report of a car accident where a vehicle lost control on a curve and went off the road, with injured people lying on the roadside. This accident took place on Witthayu-Neun Ta Maew Road, before reaching U Chang Haeng, in the Wang Krachae Subdistrict of Mueang Trat District, Trat Province. Patrol officers from Trat City Police, along with rescue workers from the Sawang Boon Chuay Luea Thammasathan Trat Association, rushed to the scene to investigate.

Upon arriving, no accident was found, prompting a search of the surrounding area and various roads for over an hour, which yielded no results. The search was eventually called off. Later, at 5:00 AM, a call from a concerned citizen passing by provided the correct accident location. It was discovered that the accident occurred on Highway 3, Trat-Khlong Yai, near Ban Trok Saeng in the Tha Phrik Subdistrict of Mueang District, Trat Province. A team was dispatched to investigate and provide assistance. Upon arrival, they found a gray Toyota sedan completely submerged in a ditch, unable to move.

The driver, identified as Mr. Chaiyuth, 47, stated he had driven from Chanthaburi province on October 3rd, intending to visit a friend at Noen Ta Maew prison. After dinner and drinks at an acquaintance's house, he drove off the road, admitting to having consumed a bottle of beer. He claimed the road was slippery due to rain, causing his car to veer off the road around midnight. He slept in the car, unable to report his location accurately. He mentioned knowing a nearby garage called "Chang Haeng," which led authorities on a futile search.

A concerned citizen eventually notified the authorities of the accident scene. Officers assisted in lifting the vehicle and towed it to the Trat City Police Station as evidence. Mr. Chaiyuth will be questioned as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
