Middle-Aged Man Opens Fire on Wife’s Family in Chiang Rai Province

Chiang rai: A 42-year-old man opened fire on his wife's family, killing two and seriously injuring two others. Police apprehended him immediately along with the weapon used in the crime and are investigating the motive behind the attack.

According to Thai News Agency, police surrounded and arrested 42-year-old Kritkorn after he allegedly shot and killed two people at a house in Moo 2, Muang Yai Subdistrict, Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province: 55-year-old Supanee, the sister of his wife, and 29-year-old Kriangsak, a relative of the perpetrator. Two others were injured: 52-year-old Sunida, the perpetrator's wife, and 29-year-old Sirak, his wife's son from a previous relationship.

After the incident, Mr. Kritkorn fled the area into Wiang Chiang Rung District, taking with him the firearm used in the crime. Police pursued and successfully apprehended him. Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred at the house where Mr. Kritkorn lived with his wife. On the day of the incident, Ms. Supanee, Ms. Sunida's sister, and Mr. Kriangsak, a relative of Ms. Sunida, also entered the house. A quarrel ensued, and authorities believe Mr. Kritkorn used his firearm to shoot everyone, causing them to fall. Ms. Sunida and her son sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital, while Ms. Supanee and Mr. Kriangsak died at the scene. Authorities charged him with "intentional homicide and carrying a firearm and ammunition in a city, village, or public place without permission and without reasonable cause." He was then transferred to Wiang Kaen Police Station for legal proceedings, and further investigation into the cause and motive of the crime is underway.
