Bangkok: The "Middle East" motion sparked a vigorous debate involving 100 Members of Parliament, who gathered to discuss its implications on various sectors. Sophon Saram, the House Speaker, confirmed that the meeting schedule, established after consultations with political party representatives, would remain consistent with sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and additional sessions on Fridays as needed.
According to Thai News Agency, the debate centered on "The Impact of the Middle East War," focusing on its effects on oil prices and agricultural commodities. The proceedings included speakers from both government and opposition parties, each allotted 7 minutes to express their perspectives. The session was structured to allow for comprehensive discourse, with the proposer of the motion given 15 minutes to present, followed by a 10-minute closing statement.
The meeting schedule, as finalized by House Speaker Sophon Saram, will run from March 14th to July 11th for the first session, and from August 25th to December 22nd for the second session. This arrangement was confirmed by Nattawut Buapratum, an MP from the People's Party and opposition whip, ensuring that the sessions would accommodate any pending agenda items with additional Friday meetings when necessary.
