Buriram: The Minister of Public Health, Mr. Phatthana Promphat, along with officials from the Ministry of Public Health, visited the Buriram-Surin border hospital to inspect public health personnel and to deliver flu medicine and vaccines as a preventive measure against the spread of disease. The Minister also proposed the construction of bunkers to enhance safety at the border.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phatthana, accompanied by Mr. Worachot Sukonkhachorn, Deputy Minister of Public Health, and Dr. Somrerk Chungsaman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, offered support to personnel working in these critical border areas. The visit commenced at Ban Kruat Hospital in Buriram Province before continuing to Phanom Dong Rak Chaloem Phrakiat 80th Anniversary Hospital in Surin Province to assess medical and public health readiness.
During the visit, Mr. Phatthana emphasized the importance of his first field visit since taking office, aiming to support areas impacted by border clashes. He provided moral support, medication, and flu vaccines to residents in affected areas, highlighting the importance of building immunity and reducing transmission risks during the outbreak season.
Mr. Worachot expressed the government’s commitment to enhancing safety and morale for public health personnel and border workers. He emphasized the need to address anxiety among officials and the public by implementing safety measures, such as the proposed construction of bunkers, to ensure continued care and stability of the health system.
He stated, “This matter will be presented to the Prime Minister because it is urgent. The public will be assured that the health system remains stable and secure, and that personnel are still providing care. Including village health volunteers, we will increase our capacity to assist.”
