Minister of Tourism and Sports Advances Anti-Doping Standards in Thailand

Bangkok: The Minister of Tourism and Sports is advancing efforts to upgrade anti-doping standards in sports to align with global regulations. On July 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM, Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, led the first Committee on Anti-Doping in Sports meeting for the year 2026. The meeting took place with committee members and officials from the Sports Authority of Thailand at the Suwanwijit Meeting Room, within the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and also via Zoom.

According to Thai News Agency, the committee meeting assessed ongoing anti-doping measures and discussed the 2027 budget management plan. The members considered funding requests from the National Sports Development Fund, examined the preparedness for anti-doping controls in international competitions, and reviewed the restructuring of anti-doping agencies. This restructuring aims to enhance the agencies' operational independence, ensuring alignment with the World Anti-Doping Code and the standards of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The Minister stressed the necessity of upgrading the anti-doping system to meet international standards. This initiative aims to foster confidence in Thai sports, promote transparent, fair, and doping-free competitions, and bolster Thailand's image and potential on the international sporting stage.
