Minister Suriya Pledges Commitment to Support Farmers Amid Health Recovery

Bangkok: Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has reassured the public of his full commitment to assisting farmers following a recent health scare. The minister, who appeared revitalized upon his arrival at the Ministry of Agriculture, disclosed that he had undergone a follow-up medical checkup and is now in full health, ready to dedicate himself to addressing the challenges faced by farmers.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriya had recently experienced a health incident while on an inspection tour in Udon Thani Province, which led to him fainting and being hospitalized. Despite the situation, the minister prioritized his duties by requesting an early discharge from the hospital to oversee critical agricultural developments, including the water situation and the World Horticultural Expo venue preparations.

The minister expressed gratitude to those who showed concern during his health ordeal, affirming that he is now fully recovered and eager to support the agricultural community. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the high production costs that farmers face, particularly the escalating prices of fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, and fuel. Mr. Suriya also highlighted the need to boost the price of paddy rice, directing the Department of Rice to gather relevant data and assistance measures.

In a coordinated effort, he mentioned the collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Commerce to align proposals for the National Rice Policy and Management Committee meeting set for June 11th, chaired by the Prime Minister.
