Bangkok: The Ministry of Education has taken a significant step toward enhancing the standards of the teaching profession in Thailand by approving 32 teacher training courses. Aiming to certify professional standards, this move is set to boost the overall quality of Thai education.
According to Thai News Agency, the Teachers Council of Thailand has recently approved the accreditation of degrees and certificates in education from 16 institutions, encompassing a total of 32 programs. This approval also includes revisions to seven previously accredited programs from two institutions, ensuring they align with current teaching standards.
Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, announced during the meeting that the results of the professional competency assessment for teachers, 1/2569, have been approved. This assessment involves 4,100 teachers, most of whom are currently enrolled in teacher training programs at the bachelor's, graduate diploma, and master's degree levels. This reflects the readiness of new generation teachers to enter the education system with quality.
Furthermore, the committee has acknowledged progress on several critical issues. These include the certification of professional knowledge and experience, the issuance of temporary teaching licenses to candidates who passed the teacher assistant recruitment exam, and the follow-up on financial and procurement audits of the Office of the Secretary-General of the Teachers Council. These measures aim to enhance transparency and good governance within the Thai education system.
