Bangkok: The Ministry of Education awarded prizes to 1,220 outstanding teachers during a ceremony that also honored Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, as the mother and teacher of the nation. Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat Phromphao presided over the 70th Teachers' Day celebration held at the Teachers' Council Auditorium, Ministry of Education.
According to Thai News Agency, the event marked the 70th anniversary of Teachers' Day, a significant occasion for all Thais. It highlighted the profound influence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit as both a mother and a teacher. Queen Sirikit is revered for her role in shaping the lives of Thai citizens, leveraging her compassion and knowledge to enable self-reliance among the people.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of teachers as inheritors of His Majesty's royal aspirations. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by Thai teachers, who are tasked not only with educating but also nurturing individuals into well-rounded human beings. The government recognizes the irreplaceable role of teachers, which cannot be substituted by technology or innovation.
The ceremony also included the presentation of 16 awards and certificates of honor to education professionals. A total of 1,220 teachers and benefactors of Thai education were recognized, including 65 outstanding teachers who received awards for their contributions in 2025.
