Bangkok: The Ministry of Education is organizing a packed schedule of activities for National Children's Day 2026. The event emphasizes the concept of "Excellence in Learning and Morality," aiming to instill a sense of roots in children, develop quality citizens, and pave the way for the nation's future. Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat Phromphao presided over the opening ceremony at the Ministry of Education, where he was welcomed by Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, and other senior executives. The event featured a lively atmosphere with a marching band and a Boy Scout honor guard.
According to Thai News Agency, prior to the official opening, the Deputy Prime Minister and his entourage paid respects at the monument of King Rama VI and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the reign of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Professor Dr. Narumon stated that National Children's Day has been organized since 1955, marking its 71st year. The event receives cooperation from sectors across Bangkok and other regions, including the southern border provinces, to deliver happiness and learning opportunities to children and youth.
This year's event features the theme "Excellent Learning, Moral Values," with activities divided into four zones, honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Zone 1, Light of Wisdom, focuses on learning history with modern technology. Zone 2, Creative Earth Lab, promotes creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness. Zone 3, Sufficiency for Happiness, teaches the philosophy of the sufficiency economy. Zone 4, Water Wonder Zone, instills awareness of forest and water resource conservation.
Additionally, the "Snap and Share" activity encourages children to participate for a chance to win prizes, with over 100,000 gifts available, creating a joyful atmosphere filled with creative learning. Captain Thamanat expressed his honor in meeting the children and youth, emphasizing the Ministry of Education's role in shaping the future of the nation. He highlighted the importance of remembering Thai roots, learning history, understanding civic duties, and upholding national pillars for a united society.
"In the next 10-12 years, the world will belong to all our children. Therefore, we adults must work together to lay a strong foundation, both academically and morally, so that our youth will grow up to be a vital force in taking care of the nation in the future," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Following the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Narumon and Ministry of Education executives led the Deputy Prime Minister on a tour of over 100 activity booths, offering educational and entertaining activities for children and families. The atmosphere was filled with fun and smiles from the children.
