Ministry of Foreign Affairs Monitors Crew Members of Mayuree Naree Amid Middle East Tensions

Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms it is still monitoring and assisting the three crew members of the Mayuree Naree cruise ship. The bodies of the migrant workers from Chaiyaphum have already returned to Thailand. The Ministry warned that the situation in the Middle East remains dangerous.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Panidol Patchimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated the situation in the Middle East, which remains concerning and is being continuously monitored. The situation remains volatile, with retaliatory attacks between conflicting parties and attacks targeting Arab countries.

Meanwhile, the US president announced via social media that the US would extend the delay in attacking Iran's energy infrastructure by another 10 days, until April 6. In addition, Israel has reportedly temporarily suspended proceedings against certain high-ranking Iranian individuals to facilitate diplomatic contact.

Israel's Defense Minister revealed that the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy was killed. This commander was responsible for laying mines to block the Strait of Hormuz. Although there are reports of attempts at negotiations, the situation remains fragile and needs to be closely monitored.

Regarding the three crew members still stranded on the Mayuree Naree, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to closely monitor and coordinate with relevant agencies. Mr. Panidol also revealed that the stranded vessel and related agencies will hold further small-scale discussions.

Assistance for Thai nationals in the Middle East and the repatriation of the body of Mr. Chaiwat Waewnil, a Thai worker who died in Israel, which arrived back in Thailand this afternoon (March 27).
