Ministry of Interior Highlights Five Key Achievements Under ‘MOI Noo’ Era

Bangkok: The Ministry of Interior has showcased five significant achievements during the ‘MOI Noo’ era, as outlined by Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Minister of Interior and Spokesperson for the Ministry. These accomplishments span social organization, suppression of influential figures, drug problem resolution, job creation, community tourism, and the provision of free clean drinking water.

According to Thai News Agency, under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Ministry has prioritized five policies. These policies, implemented over the past six months from October 2024 to March 2025, have been closely monitored to ensure they benefit the public maximally.

The first policy focuses on maintaining social order and curbing the influence of powerful figures. Special operation teams across 76 provinces set up checkpoints over 233,000 times, conducted inspections, and gathered intelligence leading to 7,520 arrests. These included drug offenses, human trafficking, possession of firearms, and other crimes. The initiative resulted in the identification of 566 suspected influential individuals and 625 people under surveillance.

The second policy targets drug prevention and resolution. The Ministry reported the arrest of over 5,000 drug dealers, the treatment of more than 25,000 drug users, and the seizure of over 53 million methamphetamine pills. Efforts included setting up checkpoints, patrolling risk areas, and social rehabilitation measures, while more than 7,500 individuals received post-treatment assistance.

The third policy aims to boost income through career creation, notably through the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) project. Events such as OTOP To The World and OTOP City 2024 Happy Market generated substantial sales, benefiting entrepreneurs. The Ministry also promoted Thai fabrics through initiatives like the Silk Festival 2024, enhancing awareness of Thai fabric wisdom and community crafts.

The fourth policy involves promoting community tourism and strengthening the grassroots economy by leveraging local identities. This initiative covered 71 provinces and 677 districts, with projects designed to enhance the potential of tourism entrepreneurs and manage OTOP tourism communities innovatively.

The fifth policy ensures the public has access to clean drinking water. Local administrative organizations have been tasked with upgrading waterworks systems and installing drinking water dispensers across districts. Additionally, projects aim to set up certified drinking water stations and expand clean water facilities, aiming for broad public accessibility and cost reduction.
